Low Back Pain – Resolved by IMS treatment at our downtown Ottawa physiotherapy clinic

Tight hip flexor (iliopsoas) muscles may contribute to low back pain as it is associated with an increased curve (lordosis) in the lumbar spine. We often develop tight hip flexor muscles from activities such as running or cycling, as well as from sitting all day at a sedentary office job.
A research study* has shown that lumbar spine and hip extension range of motion can be significantly improved by dry needle trigger point injections (aka. IMS) and passive stretching of the iliopsoas muscle. Not surprisingly, this treatment also resulted in rapid resolution of the patients’ chronic low back pain symptoms.

Trigger point dry needling, in conjunction with exercise therapy (both performed by our physiotherapist), can dramatically improve your low back pain symptoms.
