FAQ – Clinic Specific Questions

How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment with our Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Naturopath, or one of our Massage Therapists, give us a call at 613-230-7891, or send us an email at [email protected] . We will be happy to book you in at your earliest convenience.

Where is your clinic located?

Our clinic is located just one block east of Elgin street in downtown Ottawa.  We’re a very short walk from the Rideau Canal at Pretoria bridge, the University of Ottawa (UofO), the Somerset walking bridge (Corktown Bridge), the parliament buildings, the Glebe, ottawa city hall, and Bank street.

Does my insurance cover the services at your clinic?

Provincial health coverage (OHIP) does not cover our services; however, the majority of private health insurance plans do. The specific amount of coverage will vary depending on your plan, so check with your insurance provider to know for sure.

Do I need a referral to see a therapist at your clinic?

No referral is necessary to see our therapists. However, most insurance plans will require a referral from a medical doctor for reimbursement for physiotherapy and registered massage therapy services. Check with your insurance provider to be sure.

What happens during my first visit?

For answers to this question, as well as what to bring to your initial appointment, check out our Integrative Initial Assessment page.

How do I know when I have completed my treatment?

Upon your initial examination, the therapist will do a number of tests to help determine what is wrong (see What To Expect for more information). In addition to helping form a diagnosis, these tests will also be used to help determine progress. For example, if on initial examination for a low back complaint a certain test reveals one of the hip muscles is tight, then the correction of this test will then become a treatment outcome. Once this test (and any others that are identified as being problematic and related to your condition) are normalized then we will know that treatment is complete.

If I begin therapy at your clinic, will I be expected to keep going?

That’s entirely up to you. Some people only want to be treated for a specific pain or illness, and when the symptoms disappear they stop going. Others use Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Active Release Techniques, Dry Needling, or Massage Therapy to maintain wellness and optimal mobility. Like a car, our bodies are subjected to continual stress, wear and tear.  The texture of our soft tissue (muscle, tendon, fascia, ligaments) changes when subjected to this stress, and it benefits from a ‘tune-up’ every now and then.  The treatment approach you choose is entirely up to you.   Whatever you choose, we’re happy to help.
