| Prescription Custom Made Orthotic Inserts |
The proper functioning of your body rests on the normal alignment and movement of your feet. Similar to the alignment of wheels on a car, even subtle problems in your feet will directly affect the joints and movement patterns of your entire body. This can lead to more serious problems, such as knee and hip pain, low back pain, neck compaints, headaches, and accelerated osteoarthritis.
Orthotics work with your feet much the same way that glasses work with your eyes – they reduce the stress and strain on your body by allowing the joints of your feet to function normally. Gone are the days of the bulky orthotic inserts that are difficult to fit within common name brand shoes. Much like regular insoles, the orthotics through OC3 are designed to fit comfortably within any shoe.
At Ottawa Chiropractic and Collaborative Care, a member of our health care team will examine the alignment of the joints in your feet, in addtion to performing a visual and digital gait analysis (assessment of the way you walk). This will help determine if you are a candidate for prescription custom orthotic inserts.
Our Metascan dynamic software scans the foot 150 times per second, tracking eight key points along the bottom surface of the foot. Our dynamic display captures exact foot pressure during the stance phase of gait (period of walking when your foot is contacting the ground). Observations show each of the 8 key points relative to pressure and time in a colour corresponding to the 2D and 3D image and displays gait analysis data. The Full Normal Graph compares the patient’s 8-point graph to a normal graph of the stance phase of gait. The Metascan diagnostics then translates the digital information along with the added clinician information into a prescription for custom made orthotics. |
